Implants
Northwick Park Dental are proud to be providing and promoting best practice implant treatments using the latest techniques.
If you have recently lost a tooth from tooth decay, gum disease (gingivitis), periodontal disease or from injury, you have probably considered or have been curious about dental implants. The team at Northwick Park Dental can provide suitable options to bring that smile and confidence back. Although our patient journey can be found below, contact reception for further information.
The dental implant procedure
The First Phase
At your first, free-of-charge visit, our dental professional will talk to you about implants and answer any questions you may have. Your suitability for implant treatment will be assessed and options given. If implants cannot be provided for a particular person, then alternatives will be explored. Following the consultation, a personalised treatment plan will be put together, giving a breakdown of costs, and a full description and timetable for your implant work.
*Written consent will be required for the implant treatment to commence.
The Second Phase
After a detailed consultation and the provision of a treatment plan is the implant placement. The Implant(s) then remain covered for 3 – 6 months. You can be provided with a temporary denture which you will be able to wear after implant placement. You will need to follow a soft diet for at least 2 weeks. During this time impressions (moulds) of the implants are taken, so the dental technician can construct the new teeth, which will then be fitted approximately two weeks later.
The Third Phase
When the implant has integrated successfully into the mouth, then a healing cap will be added to the implant fixture. Any modifications required to your temporary dentures will be undertaken to allow you continue to wear it before your new tooth is placed.
The Fourth Phase
During this phase, your new teeth crowns are created, fitted and tried in the mouth to make sure they fit comfortably and match your regular teeth colour. This phase can last up to 4 to 8 weeks.
The Fifth Phase
The new teeth, and the implants supporting them, will require the same care and maintenance as your natural teeth. We will ask you to return on a regular basis so that we can check your teeth. Our dental hygienist can help you keep the gums surrounding your implants in a healthy condition.
